Family Reading Night Held at Middle School

Family Reading Night, an annual free community celebration of reading, was held at Washington Middle School on Friday, March 3. It was the 17th year for the reading event, sponsored by The School District of Washington, The Washington Missourian and Washington Optimist Club.

The theme for the 2016 Family Reading Night was “Bedtime Stories.”

Children’s author Sherri Rinker was the featured author.

The Washington Police Department performed their annual skit, which involved Chief Ed Menefee, Detectives Kevin Blackburn and Betsy Schulze, and Officers Doug Tollison, Mindy Schmelz and Kyle Biesemann performing Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
